Windlough Dundee 1D weighed 1844 lbs. when shown at the 1996 Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. Competing against him was the champion bull of the 1996 New York State Fair, the grand champion of the Midwest Show (US), the grand champion of the NECA fall show, and the North American champion bull. Dundee became the champion among champions. Dundee has an impressive pedigree. His dam, Trafalgar Whitney produced three champion bulls. She was a daughter of Mcdonald of Esk who was imported to the US from Scotland in 1987. This bull combines the Achnacloich and Leys Castle lines on the sire's side and the Strahallan and Dougla breeding on the dam's side. Macdonald of Esk was a grandson ot Jamie of Douglas who had a profound impact on Highland breeding in the United Kindom. Dundee's sire had some of Canada's strongest bloodlines including Covenant Scott who had a great impact on the GOF breeding programme. Covenant Scott sired Covenant Ulysses who sired GOF Xerxes, who sired GOF Zaphod who sired GOF Baakka. The latter three were the highest performing bulls on their respective tests. For those who like looking at deep pedigrees Dundee has an impressive and interesting one. Dundee's bull calves over 5 year period consisting of 53 animals had an average daily gain of 2.58 lbs per day up to 1 year of age.
